Lawyer: France removes all charges from Russia’s Kerimov

PARIS, Jun 28 (PRIME) -- France has removed all charges from Russian billionaire and lawmaker Suleiman Kerimov, his lawyer Nikita Sychyov told PRIME on Thursday.

“I confirm: all the accusations have been lifted. I will not comment. They should give back the passport in the near future, the bail will also be returned,” Sychyov said.

Kerimov was detained in November 2017 at the Nice airport on suspicion of tax fraud and money laundering and later released on a 5 million euro bail. In early December, the bail was increased to 40 million euros. The Russian lawmaker is reportedly suspected of purchasing luxury mansions in the French Riviera under fake names and at reduced price.
